Disappointing. Lacklustre Grace Gold
I have attended nearly every Stars on Ice show since its inception. Never before have I been disappointed. When I saw the cast list, I hesitated to purchase the tickets: no pairs, no current men's champions, etc. The music stank, unless you're 14 years old and can stand it. The lighting was -- well, just what WAS the lighting? The theme of "dreams" seems to have led to hardly any lighting for a great part of the show. I don't like watching skaters in shadows, dim lighting. Ironically, the show included a tribute to a long-time costume designer, but the costumes for this show definitely look "off the rack," except for Ashley and Gracie, who wore their own. Luckily the show had the ever-delightful, bold and exciting Ashley Wagner. Gracie Gold is skating like she is retired, or maybe just "tired," Not one triple jump and the applause for her at the end of the show was tepid.
